Laurie King aka “Tingaling Ting” in Second Life (SL)
Laurie has been an adventurous and passionate educator for 12 years. Her vivacious explorations for unique and useful tools, processes, and curriculum that will make a difference for kids make her a valued resource friend to many local and national colleagues. Her early years were teaching grades one through middle school, serving as a math and science coach, and providing leadership district wide as an instructional technology teacher on assignment. She completed her masters degree in education technology. For the past three years, Laurie has been district technology coordinator in Dysart School District, Surprise AZ, enjoying the daily challenge of supporting instruction from kindergarten through high school in one of the fastest growing school districts in the nation.
Laurie believes technology should be used to teach and learn in ways not possible without the technology. Laurie inspires others to realize that technology gives education the opportunity to provide students opportunities to communicate, collaborate, create, access information, share information, and process information at higher levels than previously possible in traditional education. Finally, she is committed to preparing educators transform their teaching practices so that the urgent skills for 21st century be a reality for all kids
Laurie’s zest for life makes her an incredible leader in teaching and learning groups as well as a perfect host at Altantis Rising Campus with an official role of Mistress of Mischief.
